Here Comes
Temporary public artwork with 7 pigment prints mounted on Diasec
91.5 x 137 cm (36" x 54") each
2013
Commissioned as a temporary work of public art at a Vancouver subway station, this project compiles titles of existing songs that begin with the phrase "Here Comes". Arranged as a series of playlists, each of the seven panels comprising the project provides detailed and accurate information on the lengths of these tracks, pointing to the time one could potentially invest in the vast repertoire of music that accompanies these hopeful and perhaps overly optimistic titles. Here Comes couples the vibrant traffic of the project's site with the repetitive occurences of these words, implying the sad banality of expectation while concretizing the fervor of the platform through lyrical content.
Here Comes was commissioned by Presentation House Gallery as part of Capture Photo Festival. Installation views: Waterfront Canada Line subway station, Vancouver, 2013.
