Commissioned as a temporary public artwork at the Waterfront metro station in Vancouver, this project compiles titles of existing songs that begin with the phrase "Here Comes". The seven panels present track titles and lengths arranged as a series of playlists, suggesting the amount of time one could potentially invest in the vast repertoire of music that accompanies these hopeful and perhaps overly optimistic titles. Here Comes couples the vibrant traffic of the project's site with the repetitive occurences of these words, implying the sad banality of expectation while concretizing the fervour of the platform through lyrical content.
Here Comes was commissioned by Presentation House Gallery as part of Capture Photo Festival. Installation views: Waterfront Canada Line station, Vancouver, 2013.
