But to return to my own case, ...
(self portrait with Marcel Proust)

5 drawings with india ink on paper
56 x 76 cm (22" x 30") each

This work consists of five drawings which are meant to be viewed together in a specific order. The series is inspired by how the narrator of Marcel Proust's magnum opus In Search of Lost Time conceives his novel, where he decides to detail his own life in hopes to provide his readers with a work with which they can analyze themselves. He contends that it is not possible for a reader to truly understand the narrator's experiences, saying that one can only experience a work of art created by another through one's own capacities. Thus, in a sense, in reading novels that we love, we are reading ourselves.
